Louisiana Ranks 18th In Workplace Discrimination Charge Score

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (LAAN 54) — Louisiana ranked 18th in a supplied state comparison of workplace discrimination charge rates, recording a total score of 44.07.

The ranking measures reported charges per 100,000 employees across nine categories, including race, sex, age, disability, religion, national origin, color, pregnancy-related discrimination and retaliation.

Louisiana recorded 38.92 retaliation charges per 100,000 employees, the highest rate among the categories listed for the state. Race discrimination charges reached 27.35 per 100,000 employees, while sex discrimination charges stood at 18.84.

Disability discrimination charges registered 20.43 per 100,000 employees. The reported rates for age discrimination and national origin discrimination were 8.70 and 2.47, respectively.

Georgia led the supplied ranking with a score of 96.13. Arkansas ranked second at 82.87, while Illinois placed third at 70.67.

Louisiana's overall score placed it below Texas, which ranked 15th with 51.32, but above Arizona, which ranked 19th with 43.71.

The data measures reported charges, not confirmed cases of discrimination. A higher rate does not necessarily mean discrimination occurs more frequently in every workplace, as reporting behavior and workforce differences can influence the figures.

The supplied dataset from PEO Metrics did not specify the reporting period or explain how the total scores were calculated.

The findings provide a comparative snapshot of workplace discrimination complaints, rather than a definitive assessment of workplace conditions in individual Louisiana communities.
